The short answer: yes. Blue Zone Advanced Chiropractic is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield. You can bring your BCBS card to our office at the corner of Woodlands Parkway and FM 2978 and see Dr. Mariam Mobarak, DC, a doctor of chiropractic who cares for patients from The Woodlands, Magnolia, Tomball and Spring.
Is my Blue Cross card accepted here?
Blue Cross Blue Shield cards come in many versions. Some come through an employer, some through the marketplace, and some are issued by a Blue company in another state. The name on the front is the same, but the details on the card are what our front desk needs.
The easiest way to get a clear answer is to call (281) 688-5580 with your card in front of you. Read us the member ID and the phone number on the back, and the front desk will answer your questions before you book.
What being in network means in plain terms
Being in network means our office has an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Three things follow from that:
- We send the claim to BCBS for you, so you are not filing paperwork yourself.
- Charges follow the rates agreed with BCBS, rather than an out-of-network price.
- Your share depends on your own policy, such as your copay, deductible or coinsurance.
Your insurance or the $99 special, whichever costs less
We go with whichever costs you less, your insurance or the $99 special. The $99 covers your exam, X-rays and your first treatment.
Here is why that matters. Some people carry a high deductible that has not been met early in the year. For them, the $99 special can be the lower number for that first visit. Others have a small copay, and then their insurance is the lower number. You do not have to work this out alone. We compare the two and use whichever leaves you paying less.
What to bring
- Your Blue Cross Blue Shield card, front and back
- A photo ID
- A list of medications and any past surgeries
- Reports from recent imaging, such as an MRI of your back or neck, if you have them
- Your auto claim number, if the problem started with a car accident
What the first visit includes
The new patient visit is booked as a 30 minute appointment. You talk through what is going on and how it affects your day, then have a physical and neurological exam and X-rays taken here in the office. X-rays are part of every new patient visit. Dr. Mobarak walks you through the findings, and you discuss the options together.
Chiropractic care here is not one technique for everyone. Dr. Mobarak uses several methods, including Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson, Activator, Upper Cervical and Webster for pregnancy, and your exam shapes which ones fit you. Learn more about our chiropractic care.
It helps to jot down a few notes before you come: when the pain started, what makes it better or worse, and anything you have already tried, from ice to physical therapy.
Common reasons BCBS members come in
Long days at a desk, weekend sports and car rides on I-45 all take a toll. People most often visit us for back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, shoulder pain and disc problems. Expecting mothers come in for prenatal care, and parents bring children age three and up for a primitive reflex screening.
Car accidents are billed separately
If you were hurt in a car accident, we bill your auto policy's personal injury protection (PIP) directly, and you pay nothing at the visit. Letters of protection are accepted when an attorney is involved.
Other carriers we work with
We accept insurance. We are in network with Medicare, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, ASH, Devoted, Aetna, Humana, Curative, Ambetter and Anthem. That helps when different people in one household carry different insurance.
